Opening reception: 7th July 2017 6 – 9 pm
Venue: Afriart Gallery on Kira Road.
This exhibition is inspired by Kateregga’s visit to Lamu, an island off the Kenyan coast which relates to the landing sites back home on Lake Victoria. He was fascinated by the history of the coming of the Arabs to East Africa and how they impacted on the culture, economy and life of East Africans at large, plus the impact of the East African coast to Uganda as a landlocked country.
Aspects like the old dhow boats, canoe boats and the transition to modern boats are not left out, not to mention the day to day struggles for a living on these sites.
