EXPO Chicago : Sungi Mlengeya, Charlene Komuntale

For our debut participation at EXPO Chicago, we present new work by two exceptional artists from its roster Charlene Komuntale and Sungi Mlengeya. Their work is representative of a new vigor among young, African, and Black women artists who assert their space and voice on the global scene. Both Sungi's and Charlene's work is characterized by the urge to represent their own, free from the aesthetics of Otherness. Their imagery is graceful, and delicate at times, yet compellingly imperative.
