Art X Lagos: Daniel Atenyi, Mona Taha, Richard Atugonza, Mona Taha
For ART X Lagos 2026, Afriart Gallery brings together Daniel Atenyi, Mona Taha, April Kamunde, and Richard Atugonza, offering four distinct perspectives on identity, personal experience, and our relationship with the world around us.
Daniel Atenyi's abstracted figures explore self-perception and the shifting nature of identity. Mona Taha moves between drawing, painting, and collage, creating figurative and atmospheric works marked by sensuality and emotional openness. April Kamunde's intimate paintings centre African women's experiences of rest, pleasure, and connection to themselves. Richard Atugonza transforms discarded materials, including sawdust and charcoal, into sculptures that explore human resilience and our connection to the environment.
Together, their works reflect the experimentation and breadth of contemporary artistic practice in East Africa.
