Henry Mzili Mujunga’s recent works mark a dynamic return to his origins as a printmaker. After years devoted primarily to painting, he now brings both practices together, layering print, paint, and gesture in fresh, experimental ways. Guided by intuition and a close attention to material, these works open a space where the spiritual, the sensual, and the subconscious meet.
At the core of this renewed exploration is Mzili’s philosophy of Indigenous Expressionism, his belief that an artist’s truest source is the internal landscape shaped by memory, culture, and lived experience. Rather than conforming to predefined stylistic categories, he allows this personal point of origin to direct form and meaning. In doing so, his works achieve a vivid, self-determined clarity, a practice grounded in freedom, authenticity, and a deep commitment to material experimentation.
