Salah Elmur

Salah Elmur (b. 1966, Khartoum, Sudan) presents three new works which are nostalgic and encapsulate a sense of the truth of Sudanese society as paintings give the viewer an insight into the domestic life in Sudan. He drives his inspiration from the many photographs he makes on his travels in the region or has collected from his family’s photography studio or other news archives.

His works reflect the people, animals, sounds, smells, and colors of his youth. Heavy symbolism, vivid color combinations and distortion of natural figures and proportions are some of the markers of Elmur’s paintings
