African Galleries Now X Artsy 2021

June 09, 2021 - June 30, 2021

Presented by the African Art Galleries Association (AAGA), African Galleries Now brought together a network of 12 pan-African galleries showcasing contemporary African art from the continent.

Each gallery presented four visual artists – a total of 48 – including artists from Sudan, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Botswana, Egypt, Mali, Cameroon and Tunisia.

As international interest in African contemporary art continues to grow, the AAGA brings together a broad community of arts professionals championing the growth and sustainability of contemporary African visual art on the continent and supports its future leaders.

By building an African arts infrastructure and advancing the professional development of artists, curators, critics, art dealers and collectors while creating networks that allow emerging galleries to prosper, the pan-African AAGA initiative supports contemporary art sectors and infrastructure on all parts of the continent.

Participating artists: Charlene Komuntale, Eria ‘Sane’ Nsubuga, Richard Atugonza and Eltayeb Dawelbait
