Overview
Form and Fantasy, Kaleab Abate, Daniel Atenyi, Kidane Getaw, Selome Muleta, Sherie Margaret Ngigi & Emmie Nume

This exhibition explores the intersections between figurative and formal abstraction and the realm of imagination - the dreamlike, fantasy, fiction. It brings together artists whose works on show blur the lines between reality and the subconscious.

The dreamlike and the fantastical are central themes in this exhibition. By using abstract forms and patterns, the artists create works that evoke the surreal and the irrational, inviting viewers to enter a world of imagination and fantasy. Dreams, for instance, can be a rich source of inspiration, offering a window into the subconscious mind. Fantasy, too, plays a significant role, as it may allow to explore the impossible, resulting in artworks that scratch reality in an uncanny manner.

The artists present to us realities, rather than depicting one reality; layers of truth instead of stating facts. It could even be considered a negation of truth or reality as we know it, questioning the very idea of it.

In addition to exploring the dreamlike and the fantastical by way of the artists' expression, this exhibition also highlights the role of imagination and fantasy in the creative process. As artists push the boundaries of what is possible and explore new forms and techniques, many of the works on display were themselves created through a process of experimentation fueled by imagination.

By immersing ourselves in this world of abstract forms and surreal imagery, we can tap into our own imagination and fantasy, and explore the vast possibilities of our human mind.
