We are excited to introduce a new monthly series at Afriart Gallery: AAG’s Monthly Picks!
Once a month, we ask a person or collective from our community of collectors, curators, staff, artists, art advisors, art enthusiasts, supporters and friends to pick their five favourites from Afriart Gallery’s available works catalogues.
Through this new series, we look forward to offering you different and more personalized insights into our artists’ work, and perhaps to unearth some gems!
We are kicking off this exciting series with a special selection from no other than Daudi Karungi, the founder and director of Afriart Gallery.
For the month of September, Daudi shares his five personal gems, offering a glimpse into his unique perspective. Scroll down to see his selection!
Daniel Atenyi, Self Portrait, 2024, Charcoal on Paper, 77x59.5cm
These artworks resonate with a deep sense of personal connection, offering glimpses into the artists' inner worlds. Whether it's through the self-portraits by Atugonza and Atenyi or April's exploration of self-care, each piece reflects intimate aspects of their everyday lives. I feel privileged to witness and share these deeply personal narratives, as the artists invite us to engage with their ordinary moments transformed into extraordinary art.
